About Me

The first book I ever read was a Nancy Drew novel. I was in 4th grade and my grandmother thought it was
Me, looking tough!
ridiculous that I didn't like to read. I never really understood the big deal with reading, I would have much rather been outside playing in the back orchard. The only time I got books, was listening to them as I fell asleep. I was obsessed with Ramona Quimby and her family. Every night the tape player went on, and I fell asleep listening to the adventures of a girl after my own heart. So my grandmother checked out a Nancy Drew novel and give it to me to read. For reasons beyond my understanding, I actually sat down and read it.  And I loved it!!!!

Reading became my best friend, my family, seriously my every waking moment. There was an area in the front of our property that long grass grew and I made it my little nest. Padding down the grass and throwing down a blanket or sleeping bag, the grass was the perfect hiding place for my reading nest. I spent  my summers reading about Nancy Drew, The Babysitters Club and anything I could get my hands on. However, I was always drawn to the novels that had an element of the supernatural. It started with ghost and witches, but quickly I became drawn into werewolves, vampires, shapeshifters, aliens, anything that was a little spooky.

I eat up books like the Night World series by L. J. Smith, or her Vampire Diaries, Dark Visions, Secret Circle series. Also Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause, Companions of the Night Vivian Vande Velde, and the must read Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice. I was captured by the supernatural, specifically vampires. I read the fangs before it was cool!

My Whole World!
Since then my reading obsession has continued, with other diversions along the way including writing a vampire novel myself (which really will never see the light of day), studying Musical Theater, changing to Writing and ending up studying Opera (currently).

I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my husband and our eight month old son.

(but secretly I am the vampire Victoria and live in the dark of night . . . at least my alter ego wishes)
